It's one of the less common book-to-TV adaptations that does the source material justice and even expands on it. The setting update (of Will's world) from the 90s to 2020 doesn't hurt it at all.…

Blimey, this took me back.

And yeah, I remember the general feeling of 'this guy is a douche'. >:) Here's to hoping he's learned a lesson.
