The Musketeers
Watched the first episode of the The Musketeers last night, because I can physically not walk past anything that has swashbuckling in it (also the reason why I had to watch Black Sails) and I enjoyed it.

It's again a show making up stories about the characters from the book instead of filming the original story (which for some reason isn't done. It's a brilliant, funny and dramatic book, yet filmmakers always feel compelled to change so much about it that it's barely recognizable). But in this case it works to an extent and its fun (loved Constance's attempt to distract the guard). I like the main cast, especially Athos, who has this air of what my (polish) husband calls Eastern bloc realism. He looks at every bad thing that happens to him like it absolutely was to be expected.
Also like Peter Capaldi, even if his Cardinal was very muahaha-evil.

It's not a show I have much to say about but I think I'll stick with that one for a while.

I thought it was very silly but will also stick with it for now - even though I can't as yet see why it's been stuck in a post-watershed slot.

Yeah, it's silly, but I just love musketeers. I will watch everything that has them if it is somewhat bearable.

Since I get everything over the net, I never know when the shows are aired. Hopefully the slot wont kill it off. It certainly was a lot better than Black Sails which has probably cost thrice as much.

The BBC will still show it, even if the ratings aren't good. There are 10 episodes too - almost unprecedented for a Brit show. My beloved Ripper Street only got 8.

I really have to finally watch ripper street. I had a phase where I just didn't want to watch anything with gruesome murders in it, but that's wearing off and it looks really good.

It is really good, and though there are a lot of gruesome murders, it's really only the first episode that deals with the aftermath of the Ripper murders.

Ie. No matter what you might have read, every episode is not about the horrible murders of women.
